I was on my way to work when I heard a song called "Happiness is overrated", and it got me thinking...
We dedicate every waking moment to the pursuit of happiness, however each of us can manage to do it. Even when we're not consciously striving to do so, everything we do is with that same end, be it direct and immediately, or planning towards a far-fetched future. Studying, skipping school, getting into and out of relationships, traveling, playing, doing sports, being a couch potato, fighting, enjoying music, hating music, working, not working, saving money and time, wasting them, eating, trying new foods, always eating the same, going out, staying home, drinking, getting wasted, cheating, enjoying ourselves, sulking, having friends, having enemies, feeling good, feeling miserable, feeling bad, getting angry... everything gets us closer to it.
And that's ok, because it's in our nature to do so.
But then I see something like the title of that song, and wonder. Are we happy? Is anyone ever truly happy? Or do we think we are happy when we're only satisfied, or comfortable? We only realize we were happy when we are happy no more. And that sucks.
Well, that's just a thought.

i see happiness as something that comes to you, only when you are awake enough to realize that is always there, even during a hard time, no matter if happiness is already lost, you ll see it leaving you, but still you will note that it was there at some point of the time_space.
i dont quite understand why to post in english when we have a lot more posibilities in spanish.
I think you have a point there. Maybe it's too optimistic for me, but I always say that, if something works out for you and makes you feel good, then that's the right thing to do.
And we post in English because all of us agreed that we need to practice it a lot more, don't you think so?
Happiness really does not exist, we are never comfortable... But when we got some things that we use to wish we say "I'm Happy" but that's not true, we are still wanting more and more... or repenting of what we have done. Some people say "I Wish I Were Rich" but when they have lots of money they miss the simplicity of the important things and start regreting their acts.
We are living in a materialistic society and the more we have the better we feel. In some cases it is not so, but most of the people think like that!
mmmmm...
well i dont agree with DS
i think that the happiness
really exist, or course
not all the time you gonna
be happy, there gonna be bad
n good times, so ur happy when
u enjoy of ur favorite tv serie,
ur favorite ice cream, ur favorite
dessert,... or when u laugh
because of a very good joke
in those moment u r happy
so 4 me the happiness or course
exists
But then, that's not really happiness, but something else. Something less. Something more fleeting and momentary. It can be satisfaction, or comfortableness, or you're simply in a good mood.
My father, used to say "the happiness never is complete" and I believe that thus it is, we cannot say that we are always happy if we see the life like something complete, in my case I become happy myself, not thinking about all my life, only just the moment. I believe that DS have reason beause happiness is a very subjective term that is enclosed to a material comprobation.
