Have you ever visited Chiapas?, I recomend you to do it.
Do you know that Chiapas is the only mexican state by own decision?
Its name "Chiapan" means "water below hill", and really there is a lot of water in everywhere, therefore, you will discover many vegetation.
You will be able to find cultural places like Yaxchilán, Palenque, Bonampak; old constructions with different styles in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapa de Corzo, San Cristobal de las Casas; museums; many national parks with waterfalls.
Oh! and something very important: a lot of kinds of foods and drinks like tamales made of chipilin, tipic candies, pozol drink, etc.
People is excellent craftsman with looms, ambar, etc.
Well, Chiapas is a wonderful place, I think if you want to visit it, you would take a week at least, and I am sure you will enjoy it.
Oh, Oh, an advice: don't take a picture in the church or somebody in "Chamula town, because it is not permited, and maybe you would be able to have problems with the people.

How come it's the only Mexican state by their own decision?
Hi Lupita, I was there last year, and it was incredible. I visited Chapa de Corzo, Palenque, Yaxchilan, "Cascadas de aguazul", the border of Guatemala and Chiapas, "El cañon del sumidero", Bonampak, Tenam Puente, San Cristobal de las casas, San juan chamula.
If you let me contribute to your post I have to tell you that people is very nice, but it is offensive to take them pictures as you said or stare them, you can not do that because it is rude for them, you could go to jail! You can´t take pictures to the interior of this church neither, people think soul’s of saints could be stolen.
This church is unique in Mexico, their saints are different as we know, they look as comics, and they are placed around the church next to the walls in the floor, there’s no place to sit down, the floor is full of candles and some tables with lampshades, it is important not to stare the people specially when they are praying, it is impolite. They have a special ritual to pray; it consists in take a soda and moves it around the candles that are in the floor, while the natives are on knees.
When I saw this, I said “This is very strange” it’s completely different of all that I know it is other culture. In spite of the strange ideas I think it is fantastic that native’s cultures still exists in Mexico and that people still conserve their native’s clothes.
You could go to jail just because you stared at someone? Come on! Really?
oh you don't believe me?? well that´s what my teacher told us when we were there jajaja, it was a personal anecdote, because they feel as I if you were to attack them.
